Fuel EVAP incorrect flow.

001089 - EVAP Emission Control Sys: Incorrect Flow  I have been getting this fault since I changed the cambelt. I did a search and the only thing that came up was broken or loose pipe to carbon canister . 

I have not broken the pipe but it did seem a bit looser since having it apart to do the cambelt . I have managed to cable tie the pipe securely to the carbon canister but it still is throwing the fault but it did take longer.

Has anyone else had this fault after removing the carbon cannister ? I can't see it could be the n80 or n115 as there was no fault until after having it apart.

Any help appreciated.

Change the N80 valve, I had the same problem changed this and now its fine. Also the engine seems to be quieter now and MPG has increased ever so slightly.

£15 and it takes literally 5 minutes to do, its right at the front of the engine bay at the top.

Sounds like you have a leak. It will either be the canister itself, a faulty valve or leaky pipework

It could just be a coincidence that it started since the cambelt change, id have a go and the n80 valve first as its the cheapest option to narrow down the problem. iirc the carbon canisters aren't cheapest so could potentially save you a fortune.

Thanks for the reply's lads, I will change the n80 first and see if that sorts it out. I can't see it can be the carbon canister as the only place it could leak is on the pipe with a o ring. I have put some hylamar on the o ring and secured the pipe with some cable ties.

I will report back if the n80 sorts it.

I had the same problem and just changed the plastic pipe on the canister and its been fine every  since - around £18 from TPS.

Replaced the pipe first as picked it up from the dealers one thing to note the pipe comes with a new o ring fitted. So now have a spare!

Fault has come back so the new pipe hasn't cured it. n80 is ordered from ebay but coming from China so will update when it arrives and is fitted.

Changed the pipe and the N80 valve (both from the dealer) and I still get that fault code intermittently. 

People have mentioned a suction or whoosh noise from the petrol tank when removing the filler cap, which could indicate an issue, but not sure if the noise is supposed to be there, or not!   Mine doesn't make any noise.

Missus' Dad had the same fault on his Audi, changed the canister and pipe, not the N80 though and so far so good.

These canister's can get blocked up.

Do you fill your car to the brim at all?  Like fill then click it a few times?

Have changed the n80 thank srobmcclel for  the link, I was a bit unsure ordering one from China but no extra taxes and looks to be the same part. So a good saving over the dealers price.

Fingers crossed, the light always came back within a week of driving so will report back next week. The car does seem a little smoother and slightly better on fuel so hopefully it's cured it.

You're welcome  seemed to do the same to mine, I saw a small increase in MPG, hope it sorts the problem for you.

I have given it a few weeks and can now report back this has cured the fault. No management light for over three weeks.
